MEET STEVE
PUTTING SOUTH DAKOTA FIRST
I'm a fourth generation South Dakotan honored to represent my fellow citizens in the state legislature. I grew up in Fort Pierre and moved to Rapid City after graduating from Arizona State University. I worked at KOTA-TV and South Dakota Cable as a manager for much of my 35-year career. During that time, I also went to night school to earn my MBA from the University of South Dakota. I now run two small businesses.
My passion is business and I take that experience to Pierre as we navigate
record growth in the Rapid City and Black Hills region. I focus on workforce housing, water, educational opportunities, tourism, airport funding, investment in Ellsworth Air Force Base--all with fiscal restraint.
I am an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and served on the boards of South Dakota Cable and United Way of the Black Hills.
There's nothing like a strong family! I have been married for 37 years and I am the proud father of three wonderful children--Erin, Daniel and Shannon--and granddaughter Delaney.
